Is It Right For Christians To Drink Alcohol?

Jesus Christ our Master and Savior was so particular about what people thought about Him.
He therefore asked "Who do people say the Son of Man is?" (Math.16:13).
Should we as Christians also not be mindful of people's impression about us?
The society views social alcoholic consumption as something that is indecent.
Should Christians therefore not desist from such a thing?
Christians should not drink alcohol at least for the sake of public relations.
It makes the society look upon us with disdain. More importantly, it hinders evangelism.
A lot of Christians have constituted nuisance in the society all in the name of "drink but don't get drunk".
There is the incident of a preacher who came to church on a Sunday morning totally drunk.
He was so drunk that he unzipped his trousers and urinated right at the entrance of the church meeting hall.
What a shame!! Our neighbours are seeing these happenings and the effect is really obnoxious.
Christians have been called to liberty (Gal.5:1) but that liberty is not absolute. It has limits.
Enjoy your liberty! But it must remain within the purview of God's word.
You must be selfless towards your fellow Christians.
For example, you have the liberty to eat meat but your eating of meat becomes a sin of it dampens the spirit/faith of other Christians.

  1. I do not think there is anything wrong in drinking alc. They way and manner they consume this drink is what makes it bad. Getting drunk of wine is a sin but drinking wine by itself is not. No where in the Bible was it said we should not drink alc. But so many times it say don't get drunk. If it was so bad to consume alc. why did Jesus turn water into Wine.

The way and manner you drink alc is what matters. Drinking alc to get drunk is a sin.
